Any tips for removing broken bolts + ease outs?
Ok guys. I bought a LQ9 pull out the other day. Was planning on putting it in my car to get me by till my other engine is ready to go.
Well, it has a broken exhaust bolt in each head. I lubed them up with PB blaster and let it set for a couple of days. Drilled them and broke ease outs into BOTH OF THEM. Needless to say, I'm pretty bummed. I was trying to avoid pulling the heads off.
Any ideas? I've tried to center punch the broken ease outs and drill them, but oh no, they're hardened and not cooperating.
TIA

As crazy as it sounds, use a flame to heat the bolt then apply candle wax. The heat will suck the wax down the threads and lube the bolt up.
Its broken loose stuff I thought would never come off.
If that doesn't work, take a chisel and hammer and make an indentation on the bolt. Then try tapping it with the hammer and chisel counterclockwise to see if it will turn. If you can get it turned out a few turns this way, you might be able to get a vise grips on it and take it the rest of the way out.
I used WD-40, Liquid Wrench and CRC but the best in my opinion is Kroil. Read the reviews on the aerosol oil penetrant.

I would take a reinforced dremel cutting wheel, and slice off (flush with the top of the bolt) any remnants of the easy-out.
Then, take a used, smaller diameter of the same wheel, and cut a groove (like a screwdriver groove) in to the top of each bolt.
Heat the bolt with a propane torch (I wouldn't do this on an aluminum head).
Use a screwdriver bit and extract the bolt.
