Default 5.3L Build and ??s

I am new to the LSX engine, never had one apart before. I am looking to get 350Hp and may be a 350ftlb tourque out of a stock LM7. I am wanting to put this engine in a 69 chevelle with a NP440 overdrive 4 speed. Can I put an F-body oil pan and intake right on the truck block and heads? Should I choose a bigger cam or just rely on the computer to make the power? If so, shold I use stock manifolds or get $500+ headers. I am not trying to build a hot rod, just something reliable with good economy. I have a complete engine right now with manifolds and everything. I am hoping to just drop it in my car. Thanks for any tips.

Pan and intake will work but the intake/tb will hit you water pump neck. You will need to switch over the the fbody water pump. Watch the power steering pulley on the steering box.
Headers and you will hit your 350/350 goal especially if you are talking crankshaft.

truck intake will probably be too big unless you have a cowl hood i think? You should get a ls6 intake if your on a budget, $300-$400 used, and defiantly get headers..stock manifolds are really restrictive and a pair of headers always opens up these engines. Also, sorry, but if you want fuel economy..you shouldn't have chosen a v8 haha, but 19-20 is manageable in the city.
But anyway..
intake-$300ish
true dual exhaust, dumped before the axle- $300?
headers-$500 will get you 1-7/8 stainless TSP headers, great for the money
i would also get a baby cam to make your 350HP/tq, maybe an ls6 cam or a 200r or 224r from Texas speed, they can set you up with a cam kit for $600
and after all that plus a tune you'll be at/above your 350 to the wheels.

I would keep the truck intake it should fit. It would save you some work cause of the water pump and the pulley on the truck accessory drive. And it probably wouldn't gain much power if any. I would get 1 3/4 headers because you will have to pay about 300 dollars more for 1 7/8. And TSP does not make headers for a chevelle.

here is a thread about the - f-body pan https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-can-done.html

I will try and use the truck intake if it will fit under the hood. I would like to that way I don't have to spend the money on the intake, WP, TB, and misc BS. I know that when you put a 700R4 behind them you have to use a spacer of some kind on the flex plate, I will will be puting a manual behind it. What do I need for that? Does it take the same Flywheel as an LS1? The tranny I am using is a NP 440, its like a Muncie or saginaw. Thanks again for all the advice on this build.
