Default Head Bolt Thread Chasers

Is ARP the only company that sells these? Or is there just a more correct term for the part?

I assume others make them for considerably less $$$

I dont want to risk dicking up my aluminum block. I can cut a bolt like that, but where it's cut, there will be burrs that will not allow it to smoothly tap in.

take a wire wheel to it afterwards, or a metal brush and take off all the bolt threads. lots of people have done it this way as this is how it is described to do it on LS1 how-to. it is you motor and is up to you, but this is the free way to do it.

i mean if you are really that worried, send me your address, i will go dig up the one i used, i am sure it is clean by now

Grooving my bolts took nothing out of the holes. I ended up buying the thread cleaning tap from ARP and removed a lot of old tread lock that the bolt didn't grab. I even had to re-vacuum out the holes to get the additional thread lock dust that fell to the bottom. I was really meticulous about this as stripping a hole was my single worst nightmare. My heads went on yesterday.....flawlessly.

And yes, they seem to be the only people that make the tool. Don't use any tap because most all will cut threads (remove metal) vs just clean them.

I bought the ARP thread chasers as well. They work much better than the cut bolt. No tap.
