Default Question about Shift Kits

When I bought my 2000 ws6, the guy told me he put a shift kit in. Is it possible to figure out what is in there easily. and...is it possible to remove it? i know almost nothing about transmission work btw. lol

If you took things apart and had someone knowledgeable to show the pieces to or to send pics to they might be able to identify what kit it was.

A kit like Transgo includes fixes for common failures or engineered in compromises though so they can help longevity if setup well.

Why are you considering removing it? Is it setup harsh? If it is that is bad for this tranny but harshness can come from a mechanical shift kit combined with pcm shift firmness modification too not just from parts.

Bingo.

A good shift kit does more good than harm, but a poorly setup one from someone who just wants to "bark gears" can be hard on things.

If you don't know how to fully disassemble and reassemble the transmission, it is in your best interest to leave it alone. Shift kits work by redirecting fluid and enlarging passages and replacing some springs and things...it would be really easy to ruin the transmission if you do not know what you are doing.

he said he put in a b and m kit that was very subtle. its definitely not too hard...it doesnt seem to do anything in terms of shift hardness and it feels like the car shift funny sometimes...so i figured it may be from the kit.... i will be custom tuning the car and i dont want to screw around with the pressures if he already did.

B&M would be my dead last choice for a 4L60E kit.

Because there are better ones out there, like the aforementioned Trans-go kits. B&M kits used to work decent in TH400s and TH350s (my personal favorite used to be Fairbanks).
