Default Kendall engine oil anyone?

Just about to put my motor back together now iv got it all back together,
spoke to the engine shop who did the machining and put the bottom end together and the owner recommended a base penrite 10-30 engine oil to brake the motor in and i spoke to another guy there who recommended a Kendall full synthetic engine oil for it to break it in as i can't find the penrite any more.

Just want to know if anyone has used Kendall oil and whats it like?
was going to switch to Castrol edge after break in period but this builders recommended a full synthetic from the start.

Also did a search on it and there site recommends one blend for the 2002 corvette 5.7 but a diesel blend for the same engine in Australia, not sure if this is a site era or what either, any help appreciated.

This is always a matter of discussion but every reputable engine builder I have ever talk to says do not use synthetic oil during the break in cycle of a new engine or engine rebuild. They say it is just too slick to help promote ring sealing. I used the comp cams break in oil on mine, started it up and got some heat in it and it shut it down did that 3 times and changed the oil. I then put another 1000 miles on the engine with comp cams break in oil then swapped to royal purple. But to answer your original question kendall a pretty good all they've been around a long time. I have built 5 engines personally myself and have never and never will use a synthetic oil during the break in.

DO NOT use Synthetic as a run in oil, use a proper run in oil...You won't need a Synthetic for 5/10K, if anything after run in go with Valvoline Durablend, this is an extremely good quality oil.
