241's, ls6 intake, 228r cam, and bolt ons , gears, stall, radials, and 93 tune, and all that ****....got me to 393rwhp. Heads and a radical cam may put you around 450-470ish. that should be deep 11's. there is so much other stuff you start needing when you get around 500rwhp+. trannies start acting funny, rear ends are leaking and getting whiney....your better off just spraying it, and saving your money for a real setup.

Wow ima try and do all free mods and bolt ons see what i run....i have found a trick flow heads and cam package that make 515hp and 550tq at the flywheel for 3200 plus shipping i want saying like that for way cheaper and i found out a custom grind cam is only 350 so i was wondering about the 5.3s but everyone is
saying 241 or 799? How much do those run and im trying to find a good place to do a full port job.....in Texas

No we are saying 243/799, 241 is stock LS1 01/02 heads. You could use 241s but fully ported can still yield 40+ rwhp increase. 243/799 fully ported (keeping stock valves) are the better bet.

The fact is every motor runs a little different even with the same parts. Here is a fact, a good friend of mine in his '98 TA with CHS ported 806 (stock 98) heads, 224/224XER Comp cam, all bolt ons, ls6 intake, made 425 rwhp through an unlocked converter. Now, here is the good part, 87 octane, 2.73 gears (not 3.73) Yank 4000 converter, drag radials= 11.40's all day long. I could go on and on with results like this. My car TA, forged short block, solid roller, CHS ported 243's, pump gas, M6 525 rwhp 10.90's full weight. A/C still blowing cold. And there is nothing wrong with 5.3 heads ported. I've seen 475 rwhp several times out of them.

i have a stock ls1 now my plan is to get to 475-500 rwhp with as little cash as possible...that being said i have already got 1.75 to 3 headman headers an ls6 intake and catback exhaust going on the car asap just wanted to know what you all thought i know a cam is in order i was thinking the hpe megadeath cam from chucks and a tune would do it right just wondering

Best bang for buck... find a set of 243 heads and get a nice cam with NOS set up... otherwise... your going to have to go bigger cubes! Even with FAST intake n tb, aftermarket heads and big cam... 475rwhp is a bit to shoot for with stock LS1 displacement n/a

Check Texas Speed...they are a sponsor on here and sell a ton of H/C packages. You can get their ported 2.5 LS6 heads (243's) assembled with pushrods and choice of cam for $1900.

You dont need that much rwh to get into the 11's. I have seen many cam only cars run 11's all day. I would also never run anything under 91 octane in an ls1. Period.

Talk to Pat G or CHRS1313. Both of them have made 500rwhp on Stock Cube Motors, if will take some money though!
