ok guy so my brother just installed the g5x3 114 cam on his 2002 camaro ss, the only mods it has are headers, and the heads were ported at the same time the cam was installed.

i was wondering what could cause this?

the car overheats in like a 4-5miles from driving.

 

Do you still have your steam crossover connected to the radiator and all that jazz? That was a problem for me at one point. Also, make sure you let the car heat cycle like 3 or 4 times, cause mine burped out ALOT of air, I refilled it 4 different times, and it took at least a pint of water each time.

 

im no car expert so what does heat cycle means? so i can let my brother know

 

Heat cycle, means starting the car, getting it up to operating temperature, then shutting it down, and letting it cool off. Head gaskets installed incorrectly, backwards and upside down, can also cause this problem.

 

Did you change the themostat?

 

does it even have coolant in it? If its overheating that fast it sounds like you have no coolant in it.

 

sounds like there is an air lock in the rad somewhere
