Default Leaking front seal?

Just bought a 02' Z28. It has 55K miles on it. It's had a cam put in about 5K miles ago. There's a good amount of oil on the front accessories. Can't find a valve cover leak or anything of that nature. I'm assuming it's the front seal.

Should you "Always" replace the front seal when doing a cam install?

Just wondering for future reference.

I will be honest and say that unless there is very little mileage on the front seal I will always put a new one in while doing a cam swap. For me it is cheap insurance to insure you don't have any oil leaks. Another issue could be the alignment of the front cover. Kent Moore made a special tool to align the front cover of the LS motors, now I know it can be done without the tool but you have to be careful. Here is what a picture of the tool looks like.
