Ok my question is does your valve spring retainer have to be the same size as your spring?

For ex. Mine are dual spring that measure 1.3 in diameter and the retainers that i order by mistake are 1.03
It covers my outside spring just a little, would i run into problems with this?

you can fudge them a little but you're way too far off

 

Like was said, you do have a little flexibility size wise, but that is way too much difference. What valve springs do you have? Have you contacted a vendor to see if you could get them specifically for your springs?

They are pratriot gold springs im gonna have to get with them them and find out.

Retainers have to be specific to spring size. Do not run undersized retainers or you'll have major valve train damage.

 

i wont run undersize, i figure the .160 would be to much under, but thought i would ask to see and make sure.

 

If they are duals, the inner diameter is just as important.
