Default Cam & stall question

I wanna know what's a good cam and stall set up for my ride.(@ a reasonable $$$) I eventually wanna put on some ported 243's. So I need to make sure that my cam and stall will benefit from these mods. I don't understand much on the cams and why people say that it will push my car through its breaks. I was on TSP's webstie and all the options are like a foreign language to me.Please help me on these two matters. Thanks guys

Call tsp and talk to them about your goals with car so they can suggest something!

Your not gonna beat TSP when it comes to budget. Ask yourself, what do you really want to do with your car? Are you only trying to make an X amount of HP? and is your car gonna be a flat out drag car? Is it just a fun street car to toy around light to light with?

Fun street toy...that's the whole reason for putting on the 243's. Yes..I know to call them but I want to understand the whole cam spec thing and why should I install a stall with it. Also what size stall to go with. I don't have enough right now for the heads right now. That will be in by next summer. Buy that time I'll call them to see what spec to have my heads worked to. Thanks again

Stall specs and cam specs go hand in hand. I'm sure TSP or any big sponsor on here could set you up with a good combo for your liking. FYI most people for a fun street toy really like the 3600 stall speed range. Not too much where you hate driving it on the street but not too small. Make sure your cam and stall speed match is the most important part, and don't go cheap on buying the converter (take it from someone who learned the hard way). Yank, Circle-D, and FTI are what come to mind when I think of quality converters, but I'm sure others are out there.

It really comes down to how aggressive you want to go. With the larger cams will bring a higher power band and an aggressive idle. The stalls help with this because they flash to the power band of the cam and they keep the car from pushing through the brakes at an idle. The larger the cam the larger stall you will need. Its kind of difficult to spec a setup with the information given, but if you call us or send me a PM with some more details I am certain we can get something for you.

I would go with a minimum of a 3600 stall, and no bigger than a TSP torquer 2 232/234, and those PRC 2.5 LS6 heads. A simple, and fun combo to toy around and have fun with.
