You need to bleed your coolant. Follow the steps on http://www.ls1howto.com to fix it.

And me makes three! You probley have air bubbles in the system. Give it a good burp.

You can pull the tube off the top of the water pump and put a tube down there and fill it that way. You should be able to fill it all the away and when you start the car it will only need 2-4 cups of water if you have primed the block(the way i told you) and primed the radiator.sp

Do what i posted and you will be fine. Also You can take the intake off ( be carful not to break the oil presure sending unit) take the coolant plug out and start filling the radeator.

man i just put a new intake on and dont want to have to take it off. Is there not anyway to bleed the system? I already have the coolant in the car.

Can't you also pull the small hose that goes from the coolant line by the intake to the TB and fill it until coolant comes out there? I have done this a few times and have had no bubbles this way.

If it was me I would probably drain the coolant into a clean bucket, remove the hose and then refill it. This should do the trick. I had to do it as well with the TB bypass and I just let it drip out of the coolant hole by the intake, I have always done it after it was empty though. You could always try it your way and if it does not work then drain it.

Pull the top hose off of the water pump. Prime block, put hose back on, prime radeator, start car put water in as needed, watch temp guage, turn car off after up to temp and jack front of car up and leave that way over night all bubles should make there way to the front. Add water if neededr, take test drive, let cool off , check level, add if needed. Should be good to go by now. Do Not Take Test Drive At Night if open headers.

The easiest way I have found to fill the coolant system is the method mentioned above. Pull the hose off that connects the TB (in stock trim) or the radiator (TB bypass mod) to the coolant crossover tube on the intake manifold. Fill the radiator until you get a nice, steady stream of coolant coming from the crossover pipe. Then, install the hose back onto the pipe. Start the car up with the radiator cap off and let it run until the it reaches full operating temp. Fill as needed. Finally, install radiator cap and check the coolant level for the day or so while everything fully settles.

Does this happen everytime the coolant is drained and refilled? I just installed my T-ReX last week and haven't had any overheating problems, but it sounds like this should be a standard procedure when refilling the coolant.

Thanks,
Josh

Yes, Jason99T/A's procedure is needed to be followed anytime the coolant is drained and refilled.

Why not just:

-take off cap when cold
-top up
-run car for 15 minutes
-top up as needed waiting for the t-stat open

Why does that approach not work, it's worked for us.

.
That's how I have done it countless times ... and I have never ran into a problem with it?
(Not saying that is the correct way, but it seems to work fine)

I did it the same way as PSJ. Filled it, pumped the big hose a big to help it push the coolant. Topped it off, caped it, drove it and refilled. Checked it again the next day, filled a little drove and filled a little. No probs
