whats the best shortblock?

hey guys this winter im gonna be looking to replace my shortblock and will be shooting for 500whp NA so im wondering what shortblock i should get new or used whatever is best.i want to be able to use my stock intake and heads for the time being after i swap the shortblock so what are my options?my car is a 99 ss by the way.thanks in advance

I could be in the minority here, but without forced induction, I don't see 500 rwhp obtainable on stock intake and heads.

Its a stock motor right now and yes I know its not obtainable with the stock heads and intake I said for the time being I want to run the stock heads and intake the shortblock just has to be good to the 500whp I eventually want to make.and texas speed can you pm me some more details.
