Well I just went down and installed the Predator tune but before I did I checked the codes that I got. I only had one the P0101 Mass air flow sensor performance. It was descreened and I know how crappy a car runs on limp mode (not quite this bad but this is the biggest cam I've ever had)

I checked the connecter and it is connected. Is this code normal in a heads cam install or is it maybe part of my problem??

I can't try to start it until the morning because of the neighbors. But I'm going to try new plugs and the tune tomorrow then if no luck I'm going to a compression test to check the vavles.....

Thanks!

Bobby

Is the intake piping after the MAF all tight with no leaks?

couple of thing to check. all the injector wires I had one of mine not plugged in all they way and it ran like hell. Also dod you locktite the rockers? On ported heads theses go into the intake runner and can pull oil into the cylinder if you didn't locktite them.

Bobby,

This sounds exactly like my car did (code & all) with the rocker arms needing to be shimmed & hitting the vavle covers. My suggestion is check your rocker arms like this:

Pick a cyl, find TDC on that cyl, loosen the rocker arms, turn the rocker bolt down by hand until finger tight, tighten it with a wrench until it seats making sure the spring doesn't compress (turning it lightly you will feel it stop), then torque it to 22 ft /lbs making sure it doesn't turn more than 1 turn (360*).

If it doesn't work exactly this way, your pushrods are probably too long.

I got that same code P0101 and it wasn't the sensor at all. It turned to be the MAP sensor connection. It wasn't plugged in all the way. I guess they use the same 5.0V reference.

Peace

Sorry folks, there cant have been any P to V issues as we rotated the engine by hand several times after torqueing down the rockers.

I would worry more about connections if it hadnt run like a dream for the first 3 or so seconds. THen the lifters pumped up and now it sounds like this.

Ive had cars with too much pushrod, and they sounded just like this. When we were installing the heads, I did feel like we were tightening down the rockers too far past zero lash... but you never know which or on lobe unless you pick a TDC and try, and I figured since everything was stock, we have to be ok.

If a valve job is done to the car and the valve seats are slightly deaper into the head, the pushrods will be too long. Thats all I can think of, or the base circle on the cam could be goofy. (doubt that).

The good thing is that pushrod length is easy to check, and Bobby or Bobby and I will do that soon....

WOW have to come here and let you know what happened! Two things one the MAF was on backwards that made it run alot better but it still was messed up. Chris watched the Predator while I drove the the MAP was at 13.3 the whole time. So we checked it out and one of the wires had come out of the connector... Now I have to figure out how to fix the connector...

Thanks for everyones suggestions and you were all right especially you Ever should have remembered when you were having that trouble you even warned me.

And thanks to Scott Jantzer of Jantzer performance really handled my frantic questions and even mild acusations very well and was nothing but helpful through the whole thing. Anybody intrested in Jantzer heads they are a great deal and I'll have numbers next week!

Thanks!
