Default LS6 crate engine storage?

What would be a good way to store this motor for around 3 years? Some say to back off of the rockers to relieve spring pressure and fog the motor with a marine spray. It's being stored in the original crate with that paper GM uses and sealed in a plastic bag, every now and then I spin the engine. Is this good enough or should I back off the rockers?

Just curious as to why you would be storing it for that long?
Backing off the rockers sounds like a good idea, but I dont know what the marine fog stuff is.

It's for a project car-due to time and money,it will be about 3 to 4 years until it's on the road. Thanks, I'll back off the rockers.

Absolutely back off the rockers. Your springs will develop "memory" if they are in the same compressed state for a long time.

I would tape every part of the motor shut, including intake, exhaust, after giving a good dose of lubricant. My grandfather used to pour part of a quart of oil into every motor on his farm that was going to be stored for winter. Then he would go through a roll of duct tape.

I would also get a motor bag from Jeg's or Summit. Keeps the dust, and industrial fallout off the motor.

I've decided not to back off the rockers and spin the motor a quarter of a turn a week to open and close the springs and valves. The engine comes filled w/oil and GM's EOS assembly lubricant which should protect the internals while in hibernation mode.I'm also going to seal off any opening's like the exhaust manifold's etc... Thanks for the help

I've got to do the same thing with the motor out of my ZL1. I'll post it when LWA tells me how to do it.
