Default LS3 help Please

Hello I am new to the site. A friend recommended I come here to help me see which direction would be better for me. I am interested in getting this....

NEW aluminum 6.2L 4.065" stock bore cylinder block......same as 2011+ Camaro SS....... 416 ci stroker with the 4.00" crank ........

.. Ohio stroker crank for it, 4.00" stroke ...New in box 4340 forged steel
... Manley 6.125" Ultra Lite 4340 Aerospace rods #14245 with ARP 2000 bolts...
.... a pair of LS3 heads ported with hollow stem intake valves.... a 600 hp+ motor outright......all you need is a set of pistons..... It also comes with ls3 intake and LS7 injectors all for $4500.00.

Does this combo sound right for making 600 hp?
I was also wondering if it would be better to buy a used LS1 instead for cheap and build it up to 600 HP?
This Engine is going into a 72 SS Nova.

Thank you all for your help...

sounds like a ok deal .check out some of the piston companies for the right pistons and a price.or check Texas Speed for a set of correct pistons.you should get a custom cam .a ls1 won't make 600 hp with out being boosted.

Ok great Ty very much. I was told to go with JE pistons and a custom Isky cam. Should this combo make 600 hp? Is it worth the extra money to go LS3 over LS1?

I feel you can meet your goals, and it is worth money to go the ls3 route.price pistons from all manufacture.I would get a cam from Patrick-G ,he is one of the most knowledgeable cam guys on this forum.get the cam last after getting all the parts.the ls3 has a bigger bore ,allowing the use of the great flowing ls3 heads.you mite need a fast intake with a matching TB.check Texas Speed for the other parts you mite need.

Ok. I'll go the LS3 route. Seems like that's the way to go in the long run to achieve my goal. Just hope it doesn't hurt the pocket book to bad.

Another thing you can look at is either the Edelbrock proflo, or Holley's big tunnel ram...both very nice intakes for the price as long as you have 11 or so inches from the top of the valley pan to the bottom of your hood.
