Another Op[inion on Cam question!!
Been looking at Cams for quite some time, But have held off as I have been looking at upgraded the entire engine to an LS3. In the event I decide to stick with my 350 LS1, I was thinking of giving this cam ago, Car is a daily driver, currently Auto, but will be swapped out to a tricked up manual. Has the LS6 intake, and full exhaust on long length headers. If its kept will also receive a nice set of eldebrock 215s ported, and forged bottom end in the long term future, for now this is a Cam only upgrade, but will see rocker, springs and chain upgrades at the same time.
The Cam I have in mind is the Voodoo 3 BOLT 267/273 from Lunati. I believe it will perform ok on a stock motor, then in the future will work well with the heads. Doing it a bit backwards I know ( get cam to suite the heads), but the porters believe head will perform well with the cam.
HYDRAULIC ROLLER: Great street/strip camshaft. Good mid-high rpm power. Requires computer tuning.
Hyd\Hyd
1800-6400
60513 part number
VDLS-267
267/273
.549 lift, 113 degree separation
I have looked at other cams like the F13 and a few others have used, but think there a little to cranky for me, I use this as a daily driver, that will be used for the strip on occasions, and tow a offroad buggy. Buy the time it tows, it will have a 3.73 ratio with the manual.
So opinions fella's, good and bad ones all read and thought about.

That is a good little cam shaft that should make the power in the area you want to use it....you dhould notice a good low end gain, but when it comes to the heads you might want to look st one with a slightly smaller runner than the 215, maybe more like a 205 or so to keep the port velocity up as high as possible to complement tour low end even more.....I Tele it this is going in a truck since you talked about towing too?

Na, its a Ute, Basically your GTO with a ute rear end on it. not chasing a heap of low end, mainly want to improver power overall, but keep it drivable and usable for what I call an everyday driver. I would like to have fun on the strip now and then, recently I was told to look at a cam coming in at 2200, I think the tuner was a little off forgetting I will need to still tow with it. Thanks for the advice.

Cheers Fellas, will look into the 205's, Just got to find that combo that suites me well, so many option's available
Also had a look at the Comp cams XR269HR with 1.72-1 rockers, would it be worth changing the rockers to a higher ratio to gain a tad more valve opening?
I love a mean idle like the rest of us, but I don't want to be revving its **** out just to get moving. I spoke with a tuner last week and he wants me to go a fair bit bigger, with 3.92 diff gears, says it will add an extra 2-300 rpm at high way speeds over the 3.73.
Most times I cruize at about the 1900 RPM mark with the stock ratio, hence why I chose the Lunati cam that comes in at 1800. A few have told me that a cam that comes in at 2000 will still be a great daily driver.
A while back I had rounded down to one of these 3 cams, I was a bit worried about vacuum for the brakes with the Blower cam, the Second cam I don't mind at all. I was going to run one of these with a set of heads from Richard at west coast cylinder heads.
Nitrous/Blower
20540723 60523 Rpm2200 - 6800 .651/.651 227/239 278/290 112/108 Hyd/Hyd.
I like this one due to the Fact a blower could be seen in quite a few years
on the Ute, saves me pulling it back down, and it likes Nitrous.
20540711 60511 Rpm2000 - 6600 .567"/.567" 222/228 272/278 113/109 Hyd/Hyd
Should see a great Daily driver with plenty up its sleeve.
20540717 60517 2200 - 6800 .651/.651 227/231 278/282 112/108 Hyd/Hyd Still
drivable, but getting cranky.
Cheers
