Default Reusing gaskets

Im in the process of rebuilding my engine and I'm wondering if I can reuse alot of my gaskets. The main ones that im worried about are oil pan and front and rear covers. Im going to put new front and rear seals in. what im wondering is it looks like the gaskets have been seeping some around all these areas, and they have 180xxx miles on them. Just wondering if I can get away with it, or will it continue to seep oil from these locations? Thanks

OP a rebuild constitutes using all new or like new parts. If your gaskets have 180k on them your best/safe bet is to replace with all new.

I would definitely replace any and every gasket. The seeping oil should be a sign lol, plus 180k is a lot of miles

Just wondering because what i seem to see on here is that they are reuseable. To clear up what I mean by seeping there is oil , well more of an oil stain about one inch down the oil pan rail. Its not wet with oil. I'm more then likely going to replace these above mentioned gaskets just wondering if anyone has reused in this condtion with regretable consquiences. Like having to drop the pan?? Gaskets cost are outragous!!

You can use gasket maker, but not for the main parts.

They are reusable to a certain extent, yours is not in that category. Replace them, it's that simple,

The only gaskets I would reuse on an LS are exhaust manifold, valve cover, and intake manifold. Otherwise replace em.

Yes deff replace oil pan gasket, you'll have to pull your engine out to replace it if it starts to leak.. GMpartsdirect has the gasket for the cheapest I've seen

But you may have to wait a week for them to process your order and drop it in the mail, then you'll wait another week for it to make it to your door. Then if your order is over a certain amount you'll have to fight with the carrier to leave it at your door or you'll have to go pick it up from distribution.

I'd order from somewhere else, even if you're paying a couple bucks more. I'd probably look at summit next.

Between oil and gasket costs, you almost have to set aside a couple extra hundred dollars on top of parts for any decent project. Either way, it's cheaper and more convenient than blowing something up or having to redo it all over again.

Thanks guys i was just wanting to hear from some experiance. There are some things you can get away with and some things you can't. So im definatly going to replace both cover and the oil pan. I'd say everything else by the time its done just hate spending that much on gaskets!! That could be an intake lol

Replace all gaskets, they are way to cheap to not replace.

Cheap ? ,,,,,,,,$26 for a complete engine set for a gen 1 small block ,,,,,,,that's cheap but I personally would'nt catagorize LS gen 3/4 gasket sets as cheap then again I'm kinda cheap ,,,,,or rather I don't have alot of extra money at this point in My life anyway .
