Default Which Cam for Street / Strip

I have a Forged 347 with AFR 205 decked .030. CR 11.5:1
I will be putting it in an 02 Z28 A4 that I just purchased. Can't decide which cam to use. It will be a street / strip car that will see it's share of the bottle at the track. I am in favor of the larger one but bigger is not always better.

It will have long tubes, 3000stall, a 92mm set up & 4.11s eventually
Below are the two cams sitting in my shop

232/236 .585 .585 112
230/242 .631 .631 114

Any advise is appreciated.

I am in favor with the larger one just because I think with your setup if will give a little better results overall. That's just my personal opinion I would call who ever manufactured your cams and tell ask them the same question, they can provide some great info.

I think Tony at AFR tends to recommend cams like the 232/236 for those heads. If you plan on running nitrous often, then you might pick the 230/242. You could give Tony at AFR a call to confirm.

With the AFR 205 i would go with the proven 224/228 cam with those heads. You have a small stall. Plus, i doubt those cams will clear under those heads.

The ICL for the 232/236 is 108 the 230/243 is 113
My pistons have reliefs in them but I have chosen a Torquer V3 with only the occasional 150 wet when at the track. I came across a deal tonight and decided to trade the 230/243 Edelbrock #2219 for the tsp. I searched for ever to find some results for the edelbrock with no luck.
The car needs to be some what street worthy. I still have the 232/236 custom Lunati which is similar to the MTI R1 but is ground with a 112 lsa and is 4* advanced with a .585 valve lift @ 1.7. I dont have the grind card so unfortunately do not know all the valve events unless I degree it.

I plan on calling Tony tomorrow for his opinion. I am assembling this over the weekend and want to do the swap next weekend.

if youre only using a 150 shot id treat the cam selection as N/A, you dont need a huge split unless youre blowing 250+ through there, which i doubt you would be doing at 11.5 CR unless you were running on race fuel. The AFR heads tend to like a 4 degree or less split because the exhaust side flows so well..Like stated above, the original "Mamo cam" was 224/228, but you could also look into the newer version 227/227 114+1 he recommends as well on comp's LSL lobes.

That stall has got me a little worried too, its going to be act pretty tight with this large of a cam. How about a 223/226 .610 .605 113+1 on LSL/LXL Comp lobes?

Thanks for the input. I haven't gotten the stall yet but I was looking for something between 3000 & 3500 so it has street manors. I have been on the look out for one and found a circle d 3200 for a good price.
I agree with your suggestion to treat it N/A and will probably never hit it with more than a 200.
I already have the 232/236 and after the trade two hours ago, the Torquer V3, I am trying to use what I have to keep things budget friendly. Im just hoping the torquer will work well with the AFRs.

I think the 3000 stall is the smart choice if you are going to spray it. Nitrous creates a step response in the torque curve, so your 3000 stall will act like a 4000 stall. With the 3000 stall, the smaller cam choice is better off the bottle because it will make torque lower.

My cam is on the small side in the area mentioned that the AFR heads like and I'm tickling the 10's NA. Not planning on spraying it.
