Default LS1 Cylinder Head torque

I was reading in my dealer and other repair manuals how to torque Cylinder
Heads on an 1998- 02 T/A. They say torque them to a specific setting than
use a guage and tighten them so many degrees.Isn't their an easier way to
do it? The old school small blocks you torque 30,50,then 70 pounds.Do I have
to do it the long winded way?

Yes you do!

There is an alternative....BUY ARP BOLTS or Studs...they torque traditonally

Stock head fasteners are Torque to Yield on LS engines...They are not like the old school chevys.

Can't get easier than stock bolts. Drawback is 1 single use, I usually replace mine with studs first time take off the heads.
