Default Milky residue on oil cap.......normal?

Here recently I pulled the heads on my Trans Am to replace the valves but to make a long story short since I tore it down I've changed the oil 3 times. The first 2 times with cheap oil just to flush everything out where I had the heads off. And then on the 3rd time I used my regular Penzoil Platnium. I started noticing (since I had the cap off a million times in a short time) that the oil cap had a milky residue in it. A fairly good amount. The oil is as clean as can be no milk in it or anything its just in the cap and neck. I'm running the factory 02 pcv system with a catch can. Is this normal? The car is never driven. Mainly just started and ran a little while and turned off if its not going to the track or I occasionally ride it to work (7 minutes away). Sorry if this is the wrong section. Thanks

The shorts trips are probably causing condensation. The engine doesn't get hot enough to vaporize the water that accumulates inside. Unless your oil starts turning milky I would just drive the car every so often and get it warmed up nice. Just because your dash says it's at operating temp doesn't mean the engine is warmed up.

And thats exactly why you have the milky residue on the oil cap. You aren't letting the car get hot enough to burn off the moisture in the engine. You need to drive it down the interstate with the cruise on road trip style and that should get rid of your residue. These motors are made to run at 190-210 water temps.

it's normal. you need to drive it more and get it hot to burn the moisture out of the crankcase. I have a pretty good cooling system on my car. Right now in this weather my car runs real cool ~155-160* on e85. I've got 2 10an lines going to a puke tank for crankcase evac. It fills up with water and looks milky from excess moisture.

Don't do that. Either let it run long enough to get the oil past 212*F or don't bother starting it up. The 7 minute ride to work doesn't help either. Maybe take the long way home and have some fun every once in a while to get the engine hot.

I'll start riding it more often. Its hard to have fun with it anymore, I've got some half worn out 315s on it and it spins anywhere below 85 lol.
