Year break for reluctor wheel change?

Year break for reluctor wheel change? What year did GM change the reluctor wheels in the iron block truck engines? I have an '03 Silverado with a 4.8, looking for a 5.3 to build up/warm over for some more power, and found an '04 engine, just want to make sure it'll work before I go look at it... Thanks!
Iirc it was 05 but double check that, i could be a year early.
04 and down will work i know that because the 6.0s have the floating wrist pins that year so its the one to shoot for with a stock bottom 6.0.

07 was a change-over year and you could get either in the trucks. Gen 3 engines stayed with 24 and Gen 4 got 54 teeth. It's generally easy to figure out as they basically changed everything over in groups...trucks a certain year, SUVs a certain year, Vettes a certain year etc. so knowing what the engine came out of helps a ton. Also, learn the visual differences between Gen 3 and 4 and you can spot it with usually just a single pic of the engine.
For trucks, including full size SUV's which are called the NBS which is 99-06 but also including the 07 classic are gen 3 24x. Any NNBS truck or the newer body style is a gen 4 and a 58x. Now small suv's, GTO's and not sure about all vettes but they got switched over sometime in mid to late 06. I have a 06 LH6 gen 4 5.3 and a 06 LS2 from a GTO that are both 24x, but my buddy has a 06 Saab 9-7x that has the LH6 and is 58x. Best bet is to know the vehicle it came out of and find out if the crank sensor is black then it is 24x if it is grey it is 58x.
