Need Help with a cam I have an 02 Z28 M6 with the LS6 intake and Need a good cam for stock heads and nitrous. I need suggestions on what should I get and would be interested in one if someone is selling a good one. Also if I find a used cam with less than 5k miles on it is it safe to buy it or is it better to buy a new one? And when I change it should I change the springs and retainers or don't have to? Thanks
Well if you want a good NOS cam you want more exhaust deration than intake. Used cams are ok as long as there is not sever ware on the cam bearings and lobes. You will need to change spings and Push rods. You can change the retainers but you dont have to. The tsp cam has become very popular for the bottle resantly but you dont have to folow the trends. You could call shops in the morning and ask them but they will not tell you what is best for what you want they will tell you what is best for them to make money.

So this Cam (224/228 .581/.581 112 LSA) for example is better for a nitrous car than this cam: (Comp Xe-r 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa) right? Also 224/228 works fine with stock heads but I don't know if I can go biggger than that. I might change them in few months so don't want to get a different cam later.

I wound up picking up a Futral Motorsports F11 cam (228/230 112 lsa). I have yet to run the car on the spray but just the NA power alone is awesome. Do some searches, call some sponsers and you should be all good.
There would be next to no difference at any levels you would be spraying on stock bottomend between the two cams you listed. However, if you were doing like forged pistons/rods setup with a 250 shot.. then yes, you might want to go with a nitrous ground cam. Otherwise, it won't be a very big deal. There are several guys running 150 shots on tr224, comp cams 224, and other cams running in the 10's or low 11's. There was a thread a few months ago, who is spraying on a 224 cam? Try searching for that.
