408ci stroker Head HELP
So I am currently in the middle east and plan to build an engine when I get home. I'm gunna build a 408 stroker in a 6.0l iron block. I already have a good cam for this built; 242/248 dur 610/615 lift 114+2 LSA and the springs ect.. I'm planning on useing a 102mm lsxr and matching tb. The goal is 500rwhp. I dont know how to do the math for decideing what my head specs need to be. But I just bid on a set on ebay that are bare with 2.1/1.6 valvejobs, 240cc intake port, 95 exhaust port, 66cc combustion chamber. Does anyone have any input as to weather these heads are too big for this cam? I just dont wanna loose power.

any casting numbers on the heads you bid on ?they sound like l92 or ls3 heads.you can get new ls3 heads from SDPC for $650 a set..the l92/ls3 head flows great, and is a good fit for bigger bore motors.

Anyway the above plan is the original plan, however I told A friend and long time lsx mechanic what my budget is and he began to shun me away from building a stroker and go with a supercharged setup instead. This based off the fact that once I get home from the desert, my build budget will be $8,600. My only problem is that I don't want to go with a junkyard engine because the last one only lasted a year before It took a **** through the oil pan. And I don't know much about forced induction but I just cant comprehend the possibility of building a strong long lasting engine and supercharge it on this $8600 budget. I know this is kind of off topic but from a newbie to all you professionals out there, What would you recommend on an $8600 budget? Build the stroker or supercharge a junkyard motor?
Since I already you will ask, my goals are to make 500rwhp or more while knowing it will last for a good long time. Its an 02 ws6 that I'm planning to make mostly a weekend toy(some drag racing) with decent driveability so I can daily drive it if I choose without having complications.

Agree with what everyone says above. A blower set up for our cars with fuel and supporting mods in good shape is going to cost you your budget. I would build the 408 and if you want a little extra fun throw 100 shot in it. These motors will take it like a ****. My opinion

Here's what I'd do with your budget seeing as you already have the cam....
http://www.texas-speed.com/p-588-tsp...ort-block.aspx
Then for your cylinder heads.....try these.............
http://texas-speed.com/p-3515-prc-as...ral-heads.aspx
This build would work well with your cam choice and still leave enough coin
for the T-chain set, oil pump, FAST intake/TB and a tune.........
Thanks for serving our country......

When u get back from the desert give Thompon Motorsports a call they do alot of good budget builds. I just ordered all my stuff for my first 408 and it ran me 8700. Now i didnt go all out but i plan on improving it as i go. And i know what u mean cause my motor just took a **** through the side of the block.

408 LQ9 fully forged rated at 900rwhp with cam, New rockers, and PRC 237 heads can be had for around $8500 from Texas-Speed. This is a complete long block.
Thats what I would do if I were you. Obviously check into other sponsors to see if they could beat the price.

Then a 4000 may not be so bad. Every converters "feel" is different brand to brand. My recommendation is find someone in your area and ask to go for a ride to see what a stall is like.
The 4000 will be killer at the track assuming nothing breaks. What I dont like about large converters for street cars is the slop and loosness in slow traffic, stop and go, and if you have a loud exhaust the rpms tend to 'hang' inbetween shifts and it can get annoying.
