Advice for heat resistant buffer?

Default Advice for heat resistant buffer?

So my header is tapping the bottom of the drivers side floorboard when the motor shakes under tq loads. It is highly annoying. What can i put on the header, or the floorboard that can resist the heat, and get rid of the metal on metal noise? I thought header wrap but isnt that basically metal? Heater hose would melt right? Ive bent it down a bit, but it moves back after a week. Dont want to pry too much and rip the header off the block..

Any suggestions welcome.. thanks all

No idea how to move this thread, but can someone move it to the exhaust/bolt on section i guess?

You can try clearancing the floorboard some and/or switch to solid motor mounts.

More air between the parts is the solution. As said consider a few wacks of the hammer on the floor.

solid motor mounts would make the whole car tremble instead of just the motor right? is that advised?

I'd install poly motor mounts if you haven't already, otherwise I'd clearance the body with a jack and short section of 2-3" diameter thick wall metal pipe. I'd jack it up into the area several times until you have the needed clearance.

Or you can use that header wrap, which is basically mettalic cloth I'm sure that would pad the bang...

Insulation just slows heat transfer. An airgap lets the heat be dissipated. You put anything in between there and you will increase vibration and make the floor hotter.

I didn't know heat was the issue, he was complaining of noise which header wrap would dampen, best answer is beat floor or get a good set of heAders

At idle I notice some vibration if it hits a certain RPM but it's a muscle car not a Mercedes. Anything off that rev it is smooth as glass.

I head clearanced my floor some and wrapped mine with header wrap, and had poly mounts. Still had some vibration but alas, I jury-rigged a cheap solution.

U bolt bracket, high temp hose threaded over the bracket.

Pry it down, slip on your rubber U bolt bracket, secure it and viola.
