confusing my self on cam timing
OK im trying to figure out how the 9 way key timing set work.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMP-CAMS-GM...0081a8&vxp=mtr
Im counting 22 teeth on the crank gear, If you take 360deg revolution divided by 22 = 16.36deg per tooth but according to the description each key way slot =2deg of turn in either way,
If im looking at it right it looks like each key way is about 1.5 teeth of revolution how does this work?
please explain in simple terms
thanks guys

Each keyway on the crank gear is slightly moved relative to the + or - dot it
corresponds to. You can see this with the naked eye where +8 key is x dist-
ance away from the +8 dot which is used to line up with the cam gear dot.
Then compare the distance relationship between say -8 and it's -8 dot. By
this slight change it moves the cam ahead or behind normal "dot to dot" zero.
Remember the cam spins half the speed of the crank. Most cam manufacturer
will grind a few degrees of advance into the profile. Degreeing a cam is simply
verifying the accuracy of the manufacturer and altering it to suite your part-
icular needs.
