Take it apart and diagnose what happened. I would wouldn't just say it threw a rod, but I would definitely not drive/run the engine until is has been made sure that or any other major internal problem was not the cause.

i think the 98's had weak rod bolts??? when i got my car it had a bad ls1 block, so i threw in a 5.3 with all the car accessories and a good cam and its running pretty strong. you could do something similar maybe go 6.0??

did you throw a rod or do you have a rod knock? you could have spun a bearing from running those 36# injectors untuned (IF) it wasn't already tuned for them.
to much fuel, fuel gets in oil, thin oil = boom.

With what you have in your sig you should find an lq 4/9 short block and throw it together, it should run pretty good.

if the motor threw a rod you have a hole in your motor or oil pan (if the rod came out). if its just knocking but still running and in one piece you might be able to get away with a rebuild.

Yeah im in the same boat. I put two massive holes in my stock ls1 block and i have a piston and rod MIA. Thompson Motorsports is awsome and very knowledgeable. I will be ordering my short block from them shortly.

5.3L + Turbo. Do it. I kinda wish I went that way, even though my H/C setup runs very strong.
