2002 8.1 in foxbody? ok so i have a 5.3 in my car now thats giving me problems but anyway a buddy of mine is selling a 100k 2002 8.1 vortec for $600 and was thinking about it... i know absolutly nothing about those engines and aftermarket parts for them like heads cam intake and all that good stuff... my car is setup for carb right now and i dont plan on going to efi.. what do you guys think?

Oh my God no!!! I did a complete rebuild on one of these in an avalanche....big in the boat world, but as stated, little aftermarket, one supplier for everything, a marine guy in california iirc....sold us Raylar heads, with ARP head bolts, had head gasket external leaks from the start....turns out ARP doesn't make head bolts for it, the guy bought accessory bolts and resold them as a set of head bolts....I could go on for hours, but no, seriously, stay away!!!!!
