Default Engine Knock

I took my car to the strip toady and warmed the engine up in the staging lane. After the engine warmed up the oil pressure dropped quite a bit started to die and would not idle. I pulled out of the staging lane and drove back to the paddock. I noticed that the engine was knocking quite a bit once it was warmed up. I am guessing that it is either a rod or main bearing. The last time I drove the car was at a raod course track event. Am I thinking the right way? Is there any way to test these problems withiut pulling the engine?

If you had low to no oil pressure and the car was diing, then the damage is already done. I would pull the engine and either fix or replace the entire thing.
