Need cam advice for a 5.3
Need cam advice for a 5.3 Ok, Here is the deal. I had a 5.3 "in stock" for my 67 Chevelle project comming up and my 04 Avalanche decided to eat a lifter and wipe out the cam. Well since I had to tow a boat to the lake for a pre-paid weekend I made the decision to just swap engines now I am out a motor for the car.
Looking for reccomendations for a cam for the 5.3 that is out of my truck. I just want to drop it in without any spring changes, fancy rockers, pushrods or anything fancy. Would like a little more pep if possible. Not looking to spend big bucks but would like to have a complete engine again for the car project. Does anything exixt that fits the bill?

Well yes you could do a straight swap with an ls1 cam but to me that's not even worth the effort if you really don't want to pay for the aftermarket cam do an ls6 cam from an 02+ ls6 , with ls6 springs and some pushrods u should be able to pick up everything for under 300 bucks in the classifieds here will give u a decent gain , if it where me while your in there is do a bigger cam but its your car lol
