Default Head gasket bore question?

I have an iron block 410ci motor....the bore is 4.040 and 243 heads. What bore head gasket will I need? My old 4.040 gasket got burnt up on the edges on the passenger side, guess it was sticking to far into the combustion chamber

I cannot use a GM gasket because I need a cometic that is 0.061 thick. So i just need to know if something like a 4.100 bore custom gasket will work.

thanks in advance

What heads are you using...the gasket needs to match the larger of the two (bore/heads).

I like to run at least .030 larger than bore.So on your setup I would run 4.070 or bigger (next step bigger than that)

I think cometic site says they have a 4.085 and a 4.1 bore but the 4.1 bore has the thickness I need.

The 4.085" Cometic gasket should be fine. Looking at Texas Speed, it looks like you can get .060" thick in the 4.085" gasket.
