lq4 piston?

Default lq4 piston?

took heads off my lq4, pistons are dished but also have valve reliefs cut into them. is this factory?

how do you measure valve reliefs?

Actually mine were the same and it was a STOCK lq4.pistons had valve reliefs cut in them from the factory..this was on a 2004 engine

any one know why gm did this? where should I measure if I want to put a larger cam in later on? now I have 243 heads cnc machined. gm performance intake and msd 6010 ignition. going with an edelbrok 2216 cam for now. drag race only.

Yes this has confused many, but LQ4 pistons came both ways, with and without valve reliefs.
