Rebuilding a 5.3 LS1 specs

I've looked at some of the low mileage LQ9's out here and their running around 4k atm. And thats w/o PCM or harness.
Besides, wouldn't that cause me some headache when I'm trying to smog?

I've seen LQ9 longblocks go for a lot cheaper.

If you are just passing the visual and sniffer, nobody is going to tell whether you have a 6.0 vs. 5.3 so long as it passes smog and you retain all your emissions components.
If you want/need to be ref'd then you have to swap in the same year engine or newer from the same class of vehicle: passenger car(LSx) vs. light duty truck(4.8/5.3) vs heavy duty truck(6.0/6.2)

I may look into the LQ9 a bit more now that I'm looking at the $$$ stacking up a bit faster than I had hoped. And I could still build more power on the 6.0 over the 5.3 over a longer period of time anyways. Good looking out CyberGrey Z28.
