Cam swap need help

Default Cam swap need help

Ok I have a few questions, I just recently bought a 02 som ss camaro and want to do a cam swap. It currently has a 224/224 custom grind cam. I want to change to a torquer v3. Any one have one/is it a good cam?
Well here what someone told me I should order
Texas Speed Torquer V3 231/234 .643/598 Camshaft 111lsa
Precision Race Components .650" Titanium Double Spring Kit
Ls2 chain
Milling high pressure oil pump
Am I missing anything or should I change anything please help

Do you plan on upgrading the heads? If not i'd stay with your current cam. It will probably make better overall usable power

I plan on doing heads in the future but for now just port and polish them. Also might send my stall back to yank to get it loosened 3600 probably. It's currently 3000

You can get away with the 3k stall with the v3 but a little looser would be better. Its a very good cam and its aggressive intake lobe keeps a broad power band. Over your current cam it will most likely be worth about 15rwhp maybe a little more. Its hard to swap from one cam to another and pick up tons of power but it all adds up.

1 more question I forgot about has anybody heard about Lloyd Elliot heads and cam are they any good?

I only remember him from when I was running an LT1 years ago. Back then he was the go to guy for getting your heads ported for a good price. Other than that, I havent heard about him in years. Doesnt mean anything, I just like to go with stuff I know more about. I'm sure some others on here have used his stuff in recent times.

With a 643 lift cam, I think I would go with a different spring. A 650 lift spring is cutting it a little too close.

Don't forget the oring for the oil pump and is change the cam retainer plate as it has a oil seal on it. A new plate from gm will need the new bolts . They redisigned the plate. It uses different bolts. Should be able to get it and the bolts for under $40. I think I remember about $32 for mine.
