Default Head Swap--What is this Metal Tab???

I am swapping heads and cam on my 99 Corvette with M6 transmission. Nothing radical--TSP 5.3 heads and 224R114 cam. Removed drivers side head and there is a small metal tab connected to the block on the drivers side near the firewall. It is shown on the attached two pictures. It does not look like it is holding anything in place. Wondering what it is. It also looks like it might interfere with installing new heads and I just planned to bend it back out of the way.

Anyone know what this is? Thanks in advance.

I wish that I could tell you that it's part of the merklejammer relay, but I don't really know.
In any event, here's a bump to the top!

Thanks Glenn! Although the merklejammer relay wasn't my first guess, it was on my list of suspects. Unless someone knows something different, I am going to assume it was to hold wiring or something else in place and I will remove it or bend it out of the way.

Yup, it is a wire tab...I think a plug should slide and lock onto it...maybe your knock sensor plug. You don't need it
