Retainer banging on the inside of the valve cover.
The heads I used are from another user and he says the springs and retainers are from MTI. They are oversized quite a bit. The retainers look like pie plates! The heads are '98 vintage.
There was a distinct rattle coming from both sides, sounded like a loose rocker. So we pulled the valve covers and noticed where the retainer edge was just hitting the inner edge of the valve cover.
Using a Foredom, we "clearanced" the valve cover and all is well.
Has anyone ever heard of this? I find it hard to believe that this is a new phenomenon. But it was a first for me ...
