Need help w/head choice for ms4 cam I am trying to decide which heads i want to go with for my ms4 cam. I plan on using the stock 346 bottom end. I was just on the phone with TSP and they stated that they can make the ls6 stg 2.5's fit without having to flycut pistons. I also saw that the ls6 stg 1's were very close flow #'s when comparing to the stage 2.5. how much power difference would we really be looking at when comparing the prc ls6 stage 1's vs the prc ls6 stg 2.5? I also know where there is a very decent deal on a set of prc 6.0 stg 2.5's for sale but i think that the 72cc chamber would no allow much gain for a stock bottom end as it would drop the compression ratio. Any help would be awesome
Difference in price is more like $110 when you take into consideration the springs. When both have the PRC .650 springs or the LS6 springs, the difference in price isn't much.
The larger valves are probably heavier than the stock GM valves. I also don't think you gain much in the way of flow, so you lose a little velocity at the valve as well as piston-to-valve clearance due to the larger valve. One thing you gain is probably flow at higher lift levels, which might be a good fit with the MS4's lift.
If you are considering the 2.5s, might as well spend the extra $100 and get the PRC As-Cast 225s. I think it flows more out of the box and provides much better PtV clearance for more compression for just a little bit more money.
