Weird oil pressure gauge

Default Weird oil pressure gauge
My oil pressure gauge is twitching around about 3-5psi. It just started yesterday and did it once in the past and stopped. Car is running about 55 psi when cold and right under 40 hot at idle. The pressure is good at full throttle but my gauge is jumping around alittle bit. Nothing major. Could the pressure sensor be going bad? It stopped the first time after sitting overnight which leads me to believe the sensor is just acting up. Should i be concerned? Its a 98 SS with 90k miles.

Sounds like your oil pressure sending unit is on its way out.

My 02 z28 did it with the 60,000 opsu, and my new one does it occasionally. My 02 s10 does it as well. Both idle hot at 40psi and get finicky randomly. Can't put my finger on it. I don't worry about it.

mine does it once the car warms up around 35 and lower psi. once i give it throttle it goes back to normal

Same, more so in my s10. A little gas for a few seconds and it jumps back to normal.

Mine has done the exact same thing since I bought it 6 years ago with 60k miles, it now has 177k miles and is fine.
