Default Using EO/IC question

I understand the general procedure, but have a specific question that it doesn't specify.

For a given cylinder as the Exhaust valve is Opening, the intake lift
will be on the base circle of the cam and lash/preload should be
checked for that intake valve.

In this half of the instructions, are talking about the moment the exhaust valve starts to push down?

For a given cylinder as the Intake valve is Closing, the exhaust lifter
will be on the base circle of the cam and lash/preload should be
checked for that exhaust valve.

And on this portion, at what moment when the intake valve is closing? when it starts closing? when it's half way closed? etc..?

Can anyone clarify this before I try it. I appreciate it.

I have always thought that it meant, exactly what you said:

EO - just as you start to see the exhaust valve crack open, adjust intake
IC - as the intake valve is just about to finish closing on its seat, adjust exhaust

I guess just make sure you are turning the crankshaft the correct direction!

It makes sense if you think about the 4 cycle combustion process, because for EO, the intake valve would never be moving when the exhust valve has JUST sarted to open. And for IC, the exhaust valve would not be needed when whe intake valve is about to close.

Default Valve Lash Adjustment

Here's a website that shows a diagram of the intake and exhaust camshaft lobe heels, which is where the valve lash adjustments should be made. They make a simple tool to show you exactly where the lobes are at with respect to the crankshaft. I've got this tool for my Camaro Z28 and my C6 Corvette (after I replaced the OEM rockers with roller rockers) and it works perfectly; makes your valve lash adjustments a lot easier.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know that something like this exists.
