Exclamation Unidentified lifters... Any input?

So I got these lifters in a package deal with a cam and some other stuff I bought a while back. The guy told me they were ls7 lifters but I don't think that is what they are.... I searched around and couldnt find any info that leads me to believe thats what they are. I snapped this picture of them in hopes that someone could tell me what they are. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Look like typical LS1/LT1/SBC lifters from 2004 and earlier.

LS7 lifters are just a CHEAP, stock replacement, NOTHING special about them.

Too much praise for the infamous LS7 lifter IMHO, when you go buy replacement LS1 lifters, that's what you get. They are OEM lifters.

They are OEM and everyone understands that. The problem is they seem to be considered magically better even though we see more of those fail..................

Thanks for the input guys. I was going to throw them in this engine I am putting back together seeing as the stock lifters have 186K on them but I think I'll just spend the money and get a new set.

Becuase I need lifters and I dont trust throwing these in there?

Im not spending $350 on a set of comp lifters, a set of stock replacemtns will work perfectly fine.

GM Performance HR lifters p/n 88958689
The Cadilac Racing Lifter. Honsetly there isn't really much better for stock lifter tray style lifters.

Nobody uses the caddy lifters, they suck. Almost everyone has had problems with them. I've never heard of anyone recommending them.

I have a new set of ls7 lifters if you need them, I decided to go with diff ones.

The BTR SLR lifters look really nice too at $200

I'd get away from lifter trays.

The Morel 5290s can be had for $329. So not really that cheap, but the cheapest of the link-bar lifters.

Interesting. What failures have they had? What's wrong with them?

The only good thing about the LS7 lifter is that is has a ceramic check ball in it.

People had problems with them when they first came out. Not sure why.

A few vendors won't run the LS7s but will only run the Caddy lifters. Futral is one of them due to the problems encountered with the LS7s.

Point is - the lifters are not designed to handle the aggressive lobes, high spring pressures, and heavy valves most guys throw at them. Then there is the problem of proper installation, preload, oiling, and valvetrain setup/geometry. The lifter just happens to be the first thing that fails in a busted *** valvetrain setup.

^^ good answer...

Lifter failure is associated with unstable valvetrain setups.. I think brian tooley calls it "lofting" which make sense after reading his breakdown of it.

@ jakefusion which lifters are you running, those morel 5290's you recommended above?
