Default Buying a new balancer

My 402 LQ4 is coming together now, bottom end is assembled. My crank shaft is keyed for both the timing gear and the balancer, but did not come with any keys. The timing set from rockauto did not come with a new key either. Should one of these have come with a new key for the timing gear and the balancer or not? The original balancer that came on the engine had 225k miles on it so I am probably going to replace that, just trying to figure this all out before getting stuck looking around for new keys for these things.

I still have the old crank shaft in case I need to get the timing gear off of that to take the key from. The balancer section on my new crank uses a half moon style key.

my rock auto kit didn't come with any keys either. I sent it back because the oil pump drive was covered in rust. Had to get a new key when I ordered OEM timing stuff.

Dd you just run to the hardware store to get a new key then?

I'm thinking that's what I might end up having to do.

nope it has a specific part number. I ordered it with the rest of my OEM parts. If you browse through GMpartsdirect you can find the number. I'd give it to you but don't have that.info on me work.
