Default Idle problem @ cold startups

I installed a 228R cam in my 2000 LS1, I have all the aftermarket goodies
From FIPK, P/P Stock MAF, Jentzer TB, Weiland/ Holley intake, 160 Thermo.
underdrive pulley,PaceSetters Headers W/cats and 3" FlowMaster Exhaust ETC.....
Anyway when I start my car after it has been setting for a few days, It has a hard time starting and it has a rich smelling smoke, for a few seconds.. BUT I did not drill the air hole in the butterfly at all..If I need to what size bit.. Also my computer was mail ordered thru MMS.. Is there anything I can do about the the cold start up and the smoke.. Any advice on this matter will be greatly Appreciated..
Thanks and God Bless our Troops and the U.S., John Junkins jwcej@pennswoods.net Cell# 1-304-790-3153

Rich at cold startup is typical of a large cam. You need to scale your VE Table (400rpm, 800rpm, 1200rpm) by a value less than 100% to decrease the table values. This should combat your rich condition and get you started up easier. P.s. You will need edit or hptuners software to accomplish this.

John, put your stock maf ends back on. Drill the t/b one size bigger than stock. Also, for a cam that size, it is common for what you are experirncing. After the changes, make sure to do the pcm relearn thing, and go for a drive. On a side note, look at my sig for the power the B1 cam you sold me made, without a pulley or tuning!!! Peace, and God bless, Victor

Would I still need to drill the TB Blade, if I have the program to idle at 900 RPM.. Or Would it help if I put my orginal PCM back in , with stock programming.. Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks again and God Bless our Troops and The U.S., John Junkins
If any one can help me program my orginal PCM, I will give them my MMS programmed PCM..
