243 question
I have tsp 1 7/8" LTs, tsp true dual, SLP lid, smooth bellow, lightly ported stock tb, free mods, and ls6 intake.
I was planning on going with trickflo 215s but since I found this 9" rear housing and want to put that in as well I need to get a more budget friendly set of heads. I found a set of 243 heads for sale and I was wondering if I wanted to hit into the 400whp range with a strong mid range cam do I have to port the heads and mill them to get into the 400whp club? if its not possible what else do I need? I want to stick NA
I also have a set of 42lb injectors waiting since I was planning on the trickflos.
*edit its a T-56*

Auto or M6? Either way with a good cam and stock 243's you shouldnt have a problem hitting 400 hp. It will be a lot easier with an M6 and that 9" is going to rob some power. I made 390rwhp through a 3600 stall and 9" with stock 241 heads.

thanks, its on an M6. I don't really care about numbers but if I can get over 400 HP on the dyno where I took my 2900-3100lb est. cobalt I know my 3400-3600lb est. camaro would be sick. and of course bragging rights is pretty cool haha.
I'm hoping for 450rwhp eventually. maybe after fast intake and tb when I am ready would get me close. I eventually want to forge and maybe a slight stroke to the motor but first this 243 head and 9" then suspension.

I made almost 410 rwhp on stock heads with a G5X3. It is a little larger than a mid-range cam. It is not unheard of for the smaller G5X2 cam to break the 400 rwhp mark. This was also through a M6 & Moser 12 bolt with 33 spline axles.

awesome, looks like I'll sacrifice a few ponies and get the 243's and save a boat load of cash to then use on the rear end and suspension.
anyone else have some stock bottom end, stock 243 HP (preferably LS6 intake)#'s? black 99 those are some impressive numbers and something I would love to achieve
