Default Need advice for engine build

Hello everyone!!

I am new here to the site so be kind I have a 2000 z28 with 120000+ miles on it. I am thinking about having the motor built and just need some ideas. My goal would be to have a nice reliable setup that would produce around 400 hp. I'm thinking new bearings and hardware in the bottom end, oversized pistons, aftermarket cam setup, stock heads. What do you guys think?

Thanks

There are literally hundreds of cam only LS1's making over 400whp, so you shouldn't have too much trouble achieving your goal. Just be wary of the more aggressive lobes that are used in some shelf cams. They can be very destructive.

Wiseco has their Junkyard Dog series pistons and Probe has their FPS pistons, either would work well in an application like yours.

Check into "tick performance" and get on the phone with Martin and he will set you straight.

He has a good line of cams and his customer service is unmatched, and that matters a whole lot when your hard earned cash is on the line..

bore and go with some pistons like kcs said. would recommend ed curtis flowtech inductions streetsweeper ht cam with 228-232, 611-600, 111+3. wont hear much about it cause a lil costly but those that have it will assure you it romps and stomps lol. fast 92 intake with fast 92tb. tsp 1 7/8s. dual 3 into flowmaster y merge 3.5 or 4. hooker maxflow muffler. 3600-4000 stall and 3.73s-4.10s. oh ****, you said 400rwhp, not 450rwhp.

How is your engine at the moment? You might not need a full rebuild although if you have the cash it isn't a bad option

Lol, I wish I could just go nuts with this thing. I've had it since 22k miles and I can definitely tell its lost some power. Other than that it's in pretty good shape, slight tick from top end. I just didn't want to do the typical bolt ons and have the damn thing blow up. I dnt have deep pockets that's for sure, might have to sell some other toys haha.
