guage cluster lights flashing on and off, almost stalling

Got in the car today and fired it up and it ran fine. went to the store and this time when I started it up, it fires up fine then the rpms just bottom out and it allllmost stalls then kicks up to about 4-500 rpm. Its usually around 7-800. Everytime I let off the gas it bottoms out and does it again. One time the guage lights started flashing on and off and my needles were bouncing all over. It has dropped rpms very rarely for a long time. It is significantly worse today.
Any ideas?

I wonder if the computers are taking a dump on you. Is it throwing any codes?

It is now dead. I need to check the battery and alternator first I guess
