Default Cam Selection

Alright all you cam-nuts, help me select a cam for my Z.

Car has a 102/102, 100 MAF, 1 7/8 Headers, 3600 Yank SS stall and 5.3L PRC Heads coming later.

I want to install the cam now, then put the heads on in it at a later date.

The cam's that I'm looking at...

Are you dead set on those choices? If so I like the last one the best.

It depends on what you are looking for. Do you care about having a great powerband or just want a ***** to the wall cam that will be 1320 only?

I will be driving it on the street, but it's not a DD, by any means. I drive it to car shows, a little street racing on the side, and it'll see the track about 3 times a year.

Is your car a DD? I have a 228R and thought it was perfect for a DD cam but still well worth installing.. I put down 381 with it.. and I was still running the stock intake.. I thing the streetsweeper ssht would be good for you too.. I almost went with the torquer v3 on mine but thought it might be a hair too big for a DD car. atleast for me

What about the streetsweeper ht? That's supposed to be a pretty badass street cam with great driveability.

My buddy has that cam in his Gto.. it actually doesnt lope as hard as you would expect but still has good power. Makes more power down low. My 228 pulled harder up top though

Again, my car is NOT a daily driver. It's a weekend warrior. I have my SS for my DD.

Would be way easier to do cam/heads at same time if not pulling the engine...

I think a 228/230 cam make a great cam. Gives you a broad powerband and great driveability (with the right tuner). Most people go straight for the biggest cam that will fit but I value something that will make power everywhere and not just up top.

The biggest cam I could fit is an MS3 or 4. I'm looking between a 230-240 cam.
