Default spun rod bearings, what needs replacing?

i ended up spinning 5 of 8 rod bearings in my engine the other day, it only ran for about literally 15secs as soon as i heard the noise shut it off and never started again, upon tear down the rods (forged rpm Hbeam rods) have no marks or scoring at all and the rod side of the bearing are perfect looking minus a darker spot on 2, but feel no diff when running finger over them, the crank though has scoring and all so i know the cranks trash, i found alot of metal shavings in my pan and the oil was very glittery.

my question is what else should be replaced on my rebuild because of metal shavings getting in things, was going to do new lifters and oil pump then just wash the hell out of eveything else and do new main and rod bearings on rebuild.

anything else you all recommend doing or replacing?

will a reman crank from autozone be as strong as stock?

I'd just take your crank in and have it checked out at a shop, be cheaper to have a shop machine/polish your existing one then getting a reman from Autozone. Then just get undersized bearings, and you should be ok.

Have you found out what when wrong? I wouldnt think about reassembly until I knew for sure what happened.

You have aftermarket rods, was the assembly balanced?

Personally... yes; I would avoid Autozone stuff like the plague. Stay with the stocker and get it turned down, or go grab a new aftermarket unit.

The problem now is you have metal shavings all throughout your motor. Really, you should disassemble and have everything cleaned.

If you put a crank kit in it, I'm sure it will be fine for a while but IMO you will shorten the life of that new motor once all those metal pieces get moved around in your engine.

BTW, I agree with just getting your crank turned at a machine shop.
