Default Engine choice help

I over revved my engine and probably spun a bearing. Currently my car has over $15 k in suspension and transmission, so I'm not selling I had a stock bottom end 02 at with ls6 intake and ported 243's. I also have a ported tr stock throttle body and 78 mm plate with aftermarket lid. So the goal is to be fast enough to run tens on spray but Most Importantly be able to run road racing without the motor running hot. I don't care much about drag racing but would like to have the power available if challenged. I'm thinking a 383 striker from Texas speed short block should get me there and allow me to reuse my tb, intake and nitrous plate and fuel injectors. I'm not sure though. I wanted a 402,08,18. But I need the car to not run hot and I will end up junking a lot of parts. Chime in. My last hc setup with 100 shot ran. 122. I'd like to run. Maybe 128.

Alright, I talked to three different people today. I've been told that 383 may not be the best route by one while another offered to do a 383 build stoutly. Then I hear stick with 402. I don't have time to be selling parts. I end up just keeping the junk. Give me some suggestions

Why would a 402 make it overheat? The reason no one suggests a 383 is that they cost the same as a 402 or 408 but they have less cubes. In your case everything would swap over to the 402 but it wouldn't be an optimal setup. Even with a 383 there would still be power on the able with a fast intake and aftermarket heads.

What ported 243s do you have? And ls6 intake and 243s will work just fine on the 402 but there will be room for improvement with better parts

We can get you in a 383 with a 1 year warranty for $3849 even with the nitrous and road racing that you will be doing. Let us know if you need any help with the build.

^ I love when people stand behind their work even when their work is pushed during racing and being used for what it was built for!

You will gain about 100 pounds on the nose, but you have my vote for an iron 408....I run one, live it and beat on it every chance I get. Plus they leave you room to grow later and throw even more cubes/power at them.
If your pocket are deeper your best option would probably be ls3

I have an iron 408 with stock water pump and radiator with only the 160 thermostat installed. According to the stock gauge it runs about 200. (However i know that gauge tends to be incorrect so i am installing an aftermarket one)

Since you seem to be more interested in road racing, id try and stay with an aluminum block to keep your weight more evenly distributed. But try and get as many cubes as you can. Because there is no replacement for discplacement. lol

I called patriot performance which is where my heads are from. They say that they can replace my stock size valves with 2.08/1.600 to better match the 402. I think I'll go 402 because that seems to be the consensus.
