Default rebuild or buy rebuild motor?

How's it going fellas I have a few questions, bottom end went out on me and I'm wondering if I should get my ls1 rebuild or buy rebuilt ls2 if I was to rebuild the ls1 I would 383 it I have a 98.camaro with the following mods

243 heads
Bbk headers
Bbk intake
36 lb injectors
Torquer v2

would i have to get anything special for the ls2 or would it be a simple swap ?? And which would be cheaper I found a rebuild ls2 for 2200 what you guys think?

I don't know if I would trust a rebuilt motor unless I knew the history of it. Who rebuilt it, with what parts, are receipts available for the parts, why was it rebuilt in the first place, was anything in the block damaged... etc etc etc, I'm sure you know all that already, I don't mean to preach to the choir. Sounds like a tempting deal with the LS2 though. You could sell the LS1 block to offset some costs depending on what condition the block is in.

That's what I was thinking I I might just order the 1 from TSP and not worry about all the other stuff

I'd just have my own built. Wouldn't trust someone else's rebuilt one.

Converting from an LS1 to an LS2 does involve some extra steps - see, for example:

If you have a little extra to spend you can also look at the 408 LQ9 shortblocks from TSP. Adds a little weight to the nose but I believe the value is great for what you are getting.

Yea I was just looking at the lq9 I'm not worried about the extra weight I'm throwing n20 at it so an extra 70-80 pounds no biggie if I go with the 408 I'm going to to have to sell my torquer and get something bigger.. doing the swap in about 3 months to save for the extra coins i need
