Default BackFire Question

I am not really sure what I have going on. It just started a few weeks ago and doesn't happen very often. Not sure if it is a backfire or a back pressure pop. Only does it when idling and only does it one pop at a time. You may get more than one pop but they never happen in a row. One will happen then maybe 30 seconds, a minute or two then one more.

I did put a smaller exhaust plate in the Borla adjustable system. I did that a few months ago.

I am selling the car in the near future. I will not sell the car unless I am comfortable in knowing the car is in perfect running order so I want to get this issue solved.

So, any thoughts on if this is more likely just a back pressure pop because of the smaller exhaust plate or what else it could be. If you think it could be something else, what would you suggest I look at?

Thanks for your help.

I think they are around $16, but I would try a crank position sensor....sometimes before they go they can do funny things just like this.

Thanks for your input. I will look into that possibility. It happens only once in a great while and the car runs great other than that so it is just baffling to me.

I was told the muffler could also be going bad.

Check to see if there's any misfire codes.

Good Thought.....I will scan it. It hasn't thrown any codes.

Thanks.
