It has 13 degrees of overlap, so it won't drive very smooth. Yes a good tuner can get it to drive decently, but don't expect to lug around at 1000-1200 rpms with it.
It will be a good performer though. Just make sure you can spin it to at least 6800 or more.
If its free or cheap, may as well toss it in and see how it goes, it's just labor. Well, I guess you have to pay for the tune too.

If you had 3.90s to go with it and the MN12 gearbox, then yeah, it would work pretty well. Install it at a 109 ICL (and verify PtV) and it should make good HP up top and decent midrange torque.

basically you're are checking to verify that the cam was ground correctly to
match th cam card specs and Jake's suggestion to install at 109 would be a
four degree advance in order to have the intake closing point more optimized
but this puts the intake valve and piston clearance VERY close so you will
also need to check that......most suggest .080" minimum but plenty of guys
have run as little as half that....just don't miss a shift !!!! I concur that 3.90
gears would work well with that size cam.

It's a fair amount of work to put a cam in a C5. I would think you would want a proven performer that drives nice, is easy to tune and makes great power.
Such cams are available, and won't be that big.
If you don't like it, wash, rinse repeat the whole job. You will spend 2X.

If that's the case, then yeah, don't do it.
Get something a little smaller.
The nice thing about a C5 is how light they are. You don't need to optimize the torque quite as much vs an F-Body or GTO/Gen 5. But something in the low 230s duration would be nice to drive in the car.
